I don’t want to tie this up in a lot of faff about authenticity; what I like about the sensibility of this music is the way it knits the eerie and the commonplace together, connecting emotional canniness (lovers let you down, heartbreak is the most common thing in the world) with uncanniness (even at its most desolating, love can take you right out of your own skin). Isn’t Burial doing the same thing?
