…to Fanon - decolonisation, violence, the “new man” and so on. I’ve read Sartre’s preface to The Wretched Of The Earth more times than I’ve read the book, actually find it (the preface) fairly nauseating - but that may be by design, Sartre generating this nausea and then working it to produce various effects. I wouldn’t be surprised to learn that there was a fair bit of Fanon in Badiou’s political DNA, although it may well be Fanon via Sartre.

I did wonder earlier whether I should carry on with this, whatever “this” is - a sort of experiment in making myself as unlikeable as possible, I shouldn’t wonder. But obviously if one is caught up in an investigation of something, and especially if the direction and purpose are obscure, one should push on ahead…
