I applaud and support your actions in continuing to occupy the lecture
theatre, and am disgusted by the mendacity of the university management who have attempted to paint your courageous actions as the illegitimate disruption of other students’ learning and impairment of the quality of their “student experience”.
I am especially pleased to hear that your action has been supported by members of the wider community in Nottingham, and that occupying
students have received donations of food and other supplies from local
traders. This clearly demonstrates that, far from being the “unrealistic” posturing of naive student radicals, your concerns are widely shared and your aims supported. I urge you to do all that you can to maintain and develop such links with concerned citizens outside of the student body. As a software engineer working in the telecommunications industry, and a parent of two young children, I am proud to add my voice to those of your many supporters.
This level of student activism and participation is long overdue, and
is a just and necessary response to both the atrocities in Gaza and
the pacification of the university by neo-liberal managerialist
philistinism.
Yours in solidarity,
Dominic Fox
