Radiohead approached him to do the video for “There There”, one of the better songs on Hail to the Thief (at one stage the album was going to have been called “The Boney King of Nowhere”, after a Bagpuss story). Being at that point quite retired, he turned them down. His influence on British culture was wide-ranging, and wholly to the good.
