This week’s music recommendation is Rites Of Thy Degringolade, now sadly defunct, who released a split EP with Portal and could meaningfully be considered their black metal peers. “Degringolade” is a real word - it means tumbling, as in becoming-tumbledown, the rapid and inexorable inward collapse of a decrepit structure. This is a great time for weird underground metal, as the genre releases the myriad spores of ancestral contagion from its dust.

and I’m going to pinch one of them for a collection of Spiral Jacobs tunes very soon. Undecided at the moment between “Five Billion Years Of Hell-Engineering” and “The Dead Mother Of All Contagion”.
