I imagine female characters in lotus land, anxiously awaiting assignation to a male author. “Oh shit, not Hardy! See you on the other side, girls”. “Hey, great, D.H. Lawrence - oh, wait, you mean I have to be the neurotic one…?”.

If I ever write a novel, I promise any prospective female characters a fair crack of the whip.
