Fahey

Fahey is a little bit like The Fall for me, in that on the face of it it’s difficult to explain what I think is so great about him. Partly it’s that the music isn’t about him, anyway. In fact, you really have to totally not care whether or not the audience thinks you’re a stunning virtuoso and musical genius to have the nerve to play some of what Fahey plays, which can be rudimentary in the extreme - pick a chord shape and a finger-picking pattern, play that for a bar or two, move the chord shape around the neck, repeat…
