My Ballardian fantasy about the people in the white coats getting stuck into the ALF seems to be coming true.

I would imagine that a suitable model for Pro-Test would be something like the Anti-Nazi League; they could put out a Searchlight-like publication tracking the activities of ALF activists, leaflet a few student bars, maybe organise a few gigs (I wonder if Morrisey is available…).

Difficult to know where to stand on this one: it would give me great joy to see the people in the white coats reverse their status as homo sacer for the ALF and break out of their assigned role as the passive objects of the activists’ self-righteous scapegoating and violence, but Huntingdon Life Sciences and the University of Oxford are hardly institutions in urgent need of populist support and solidarity. They are more than capable of looking after themselves - with the assistance of the police, the courts, and the best muscle money can hire…
