I now have Pierce’s Types and Programming Languages on order from Amazon. I’m hoping that if I leave it under my pillow overnight, the wisdom contained therein will gradually seep into my brain through a process of psychic osmosis. Failing that, I suppose I’ll have to read it.

Fortunately, I’m told it’s quite accessible. Unfortunately, the people who told me that were all Programming Language Theory Geeks.
